Dish Network Special Offers
When you subscribe to one of Dish Network's entertainment packages, you don't just get a bunch of channels to watch, you get a complete satellite television experience. Dish Network not only supplies great programming, but it also provides you with the equipment you need to turn your television into a satellite TV entertainment center. This means that Dish Network will provide a satellite dish and satellite receiver. The satellite dish receives the electromagnetic signals that Dish Network uses to transmit your programming from one of it's land based broadcast stations to a satellite in geosynchronous orbit around the Earth's equator and back down to customers on the surface. The receiver then decodes those signals and transforms them into the pictures and sounds that you see and hear through your television.
That's the minimalist view of what a receiver does, but Dish Network builds a lot more functionality than that into even their most basic receiver. All Dish Network receivers come with Electronic Program Guide software, also known as EPG for short. The EPG is the center piece of your satellite TV experience because it lets you manage potentially hundreds of channels so that they won't overwhelm you. The EPG is displayed on the screen in the form of a table that you can scroll through to see what programming is available on all of the channels hours- or even days on some models- before it airs. The EPG also provides peace of mind by making it easy to limit the types of programming your children have access to when you're not there to supervise them. This can be done by blocking entire channels, programs with certain ratings, or even specific programs. The EPG also features the ability to create favorites lists, so that each family member can have a customized profile of his or her favorite channels so they don't have to sift through the channels they don't watch as much when they go looking for their favorite shows.
Some Dish Network receivers also come with the ability to deliver a separate television signal to a second television located in a completely different room. It does this with the use of a second satellite tuner that's hooked up to the second television with a cable running through the wall of your house. The second tuner is controlled by a second remote control that uses a UHF signal- instead of the normal IR signal used by most remote controls including the one the controls the primary television. The UHF signal can pass through walls and furniture and has the additional benefit of ensuring that the two tuners won't get confused by signals from each other's remotes. This system is like having two separate receivers, but at lower cost and less loss of space in your home entertainment centers.
A variety of Receivers are also equipped with Digital Video Recorders, or DVR's. A DVR can record up to two shows as once so that you can watch them when it's convenient for you, regardless of when they're on. It can record up to two shows at once or record one show while you watch another. In this sense it does everything that a VCR can do, but it's much more convenient to use because, with the use of the EPG, programming it is easy and since it records onto a built in hard drive you'll never have to hunt down a blank video tape again.
With all of these great features, combined with Dish Network's great programming, it's a great time to switch to Dish Network. Dish Network beats Charter, Cox, Time Warner and CableVision in customer satisfaction. Click Dish Network now to get started!
